What to expect during your consultationYour first consultation will include an involved discussion to identify the history and current status of the problem, any relevant medical history and your goals (for example, return to playing sport, or being able to garden pain free) and a thorough physical examination. Treatment and advice is given at the first session, along with a diagnosis and prognosis for recovery. In those cases where a definitive diagnosis is not immediately possible, the options for a trial of conservative treatment or onward referral for investigations or Specialist opinion will be discussed with you, and a path will be decided on that works for both you and your Physiotherapist. Treatment is based around manual techniques including joint mobilisation and manipulation, joint position correction techniques (MET) and various soft tissue release techniques. These techniques aim to restore normal joint motion, normal tissue dynamics and normal postural alignment, and are complimented by very specific, tailored exercise programmes to balance the muscles and maintain the body alignment. Programmes are dynamically progressed to a functional level specific to your goals. Education regarding the function and dysfunction of the body (relating specifically to your injury) empowers you to manage your condition and helps to prevent repeated injury. You can then manage yourself 24 hours a day and experience a much quicker recovery. Jenni works closely with other professionals including coaches, dance instructors, personal trainers, GP’s and Consultants, to ensure a smooth transition from injury to full function. |
